What is Massage

Massage is the application of long, smooth strokes, kneading and other movements focused on superficial and deep layers of muscle using massage oil or lotion.

Therapists typically manually apply pressure via tension, stretching or vibration to muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, joints, lymphatic vessels, or the gastrointestinal system.

How a massage can help

Massages can relieve muscle tension and pain, increases flexibility and mobility, decreases motor-neuron excitability, and helps clear lactic acid and other waste, reducing pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.

They may be done either fully or partially clothed, with careful consideration by the therapist to draping of towels or sheets to maintain privacy.

Cupping may also form part of a massage treatment.  A massage treatment may be for half an hour, a full hour, or longer if requested or required.
