Bjorn completed his Acupuncture training at the University of Technology (UTS) in Sydney in 1994, and undertook an Internship in Guanxio, China. Bjorn sat exams to practice acupuncture in the United States worked for five years in the New England region, while he undertook a research based Masters Degree examining health and wellbeing at Clark University. While living in the USA, Bjorn also undertook an Internship at the Centre for Mindfulness, Healthcare and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and has continued his personal practice of mindfulness and Qi Gong.
Bjorn established Maitland Wellness Centre based on mindfulness principles and compassion for the patient.
Shell Brodie has attained a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology), Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture), Diploma of Fitness, Certificate IV in Traditional Chinese Remedial Massage (An Mo Tui Na). Michelle studied acupuncture at Endeavour College of Natural Health in Melbourne before moving to Maitland.
Being a qualified and registered personal trainer and acupuncturist, Shell applies her passion for health and wellbeing to make sure clients receive the best possible outcome for their health issues.
She has an interest in exercise therapy, food as medicine and paediatric acupuncture and massage.
Meshelle is a university qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner who also holds a diploma in Chinese Remedial Massage and a certificate of Clinical Internship and an Honorary Certificate of Voluntary Medical Assistance from Jiangsu Provisional Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, China. She has also spent two years after graduating from university living and working in Asia (China and Taiwan) where she worked within a hospital and external clinical setting.
Patrick is an Acupuncturist who is also a qualified Chinese Medicine practitioner, herbalist, naturopath and registered nurse with qualifications gained from RMIT, University of New England, Newcastle and Sydney Universities. “I believe that being well and having access to wellness programs and health care is a human right and healing is an art and a science of human caring. I look forward to meeting you.”
Patrick has 25 years’ experience as a health care professional and at our clinic he will be providing a holistic approach to the treatment of a number of conditions.
Kerrie Hile has been working at Maitland Wellness Centre since completing her Diploma in Remedial Massage in 2015 and has completed a Cert III in Fitness and a Certificate in Pregnancy Massage with Pregnancy Massage Australia since finishing her training.
Kerrie has a background of 20 years in the nursing field with experience in Medical, Emergency and rehabilitation.
Kerrie has a keen interest in sports, and has been mountain biking competitively for the past 12 years. Also enjoys swimming and Yoga.
Hobbies include playing music and singing, gardening.
Felicity has a strong interest in rehabilitation and maintenance of the body and uses a combination of many styles from soft to deep massage as needed to achieve beneficial results.
In her spare time, Felicity is a high level equestrian.
John is a remedial massage therapist with over 20 years’ experience, having owned his own practice in Scotland. I thoroughly enjoy massage and am passionate about its benefits.
John treats a range of problems and ailments both acute and chronic, everything from back, shoulder, hips, legs and neck pain to sports muscular injuries.
Having moved to Australia, John enjoys the outdoor life style especially the beach and the ocean as well as going to the gym and spending time with the family
Treatments offered by John include: remedial massage (various styles to suit individual needs), therapeutic/relaxation massage, clinical reflexology, Indian head massage and pregnancy massage.
Nicole has attained a Diploma of Remedial Massage and is trained in trigger point therapy, lymphatic drainage, soft tissue release and deep tissue techniques. She is an avid believer that the power of touch and soft tissue manipulation is beneficial for the treatment of an array of ailments ranging from psychological origins to muscle tension.
Nicole is looking forward to meeting you and assisting you on your path to better health. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys running and attempting to learn to play the piano.
Kanjana has been working in the massage industry for more than 10 years, having completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage and a Certificate IV in Thai Traditional Massage. From many years experience, Kanjana is proficient at relieving muscle injury and tension. She uses a technique created from a combination of Thai traditional massage which focuses on relieving deep muscle tightness and remedial massage. The advantage of this technique is to receive both a relaxing massage and having a treatment at the same time.
Robynne is responsible for the day-to-day running of the clinic as well as reception and bookings. She works closely with the entire team to bring you the best standard of patient care from the minute you walk through the door.
Although Robynne has worked in a number of administrative and reception roles, she finds working at the centre deeply satisfying as it combines her interest in alternative therapies and customer service.
In her spare time, Robynne works on her fitness and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
